TRANSITION

Competitors are able to rack their bikes prior to their event in the designated rows within Transition. As soon as you have completed setup please make your way over to the athlete holding area near the swim start. All competitors will be escorted across the bike course to the swim start prior to event start due to the crossing of the bike course.

Competitors will select their own racking placement on the day, please note that you should never touch or move another competitors bike, if you require assistance to rack ask a Marshall.

Tri Star Starts will be laying bikes down in transition, all other bikes will be racked.

All bags should be stored at the edges of transition out of the way of other competitors.

If this is your first triathlon we suggest you take 5 minutes to watch the below video on how to set up transition.

GETTING READY TO START

You will then be required to walk across the bike course to the grass area in front of the swim start. This walk is on a mixture of grass and tarmac and can either be done either in flip flops or barefoot. All competitors will be escorted across the bike course to the swim start prior to event start due to the crossing of the bike course.

Start Times
The race is an individual start event with each participant running into the water and starting approx 10 seconds apart. Athletes can enter in any order they wish for this event.

RESULTS

The timing system for our events uses an electronic chip timing system.

You will be supplied with a race number which will be either

  • pinned to your front or
  • attached to a race belt and displayed rear on the bike, front on the run.

Your individual start time will be recorded by the device when the Marshall tells you to start, and then compared to your own individual finish time. Split times will be provided. All results will be available online and we request you don’t hang around for too long to compare results.

The results are provisional until such time as they are finalised following the event.

THE RULES

–  All competitors MUST wear a fastened helmet when in contact with their bike.

–  No earphones/mobile phones or MP3 players are to be used AT ALL during the event.

–  Only marshals in high-viz vests are to assist competitors during the event.

If a water bottle is launched from your bottle cage when you hit a bump in the road, turn around and pick it up before it becomes a hazard to another rider.

IRC QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS - TS2 and TS3 Only

For your race we will be enforcing the gear restrictions for those who either want to qualify for the IRC or those who are looking for a podium prize at your race. Those that just want to do it for fun, do not have to restrict their gears, but wont qualify or be in line for a podium spot. This is also the same for carbon wheels. No Carbon wheels allowed for athletes looking to qualify in T2 or T3. Only standard Alloy wheels. To qualify, you must also be a member of British Triathlon.

FAMILY FUN TRIATHLON

This event operates slightly differently to a traditional fixed distance event, after an initial fixed 100m swim you will be afforded time on the 1.5km bike and 600m run course to complete as much distance as you or you child wants.

THE SWIM

The swim hugs the bank of the lake over 100m so that the shallows are always within easy reach, exiting the water straight into transition.

Here you’ll get ready and head out on the bike riding up and down the lakeside closed roads.

THE BIKE

You will have free reign over the bike course until 30 minutes after the event starts.

THE RUN

You will have free reign over the run course until 45 minutes after the event starts.
