TRAVEL

Papercourt Sailing Club is located near the village of Ripley in Surrey. It is about 5 minutes’ drive from the M25 (Junction 10) via the A3 (Ripley exit from the North and Send/Ripley exit from the South).

COURSE SUMMARY


RACE DISTANCES & START WAVES

There are several race distances taking place with swimmers released in three waves, both commence with a deep water start.

  • Wave 1 – Sprint Aquathlon, 750m & 1500m swim races.
  • Wave 2 – 400m Swim Race.
  • Wave 3 – Novice/GoTri Aquathlon

Where competitor numbers allow we may start waves together on the day.

 

OPEN WATER SWIM

The swim takes place in the Papercourt Sailing Clubs lake.

This open water swim features a small deep water start racing out to complete the required distance and then exiting the water via the entry slip.

1500m Swimmers will Complete 2 Laps of the swim Course

400m Swimmers will Turn half way down the lake at the half way Buoys.

Novice Swimmers will turn on the first set of buoys nearest the club house.

Its then just a short run to transition where you will start your run.

RUN COURSE FOR AQUATHLONS

Straight from transition you will head out through the car park and onto the trails surrounding the sailing club.

For the run we’ve got a lapped cross country course around the grounds of the sailing club taking in a mixture of terrains. The course is generally flat and good underfoot but with some areas requiring concentration to keep you on your toes.

Sprint Distance – 2 Lap

Novice Distance – 1 Lap

RACE PREPARATION & RACE TIMING


RACE TIMING

The race will be manually timed using Webscorer.

Results will be available shortly after you have completed your run with.

Results will be available with the following splits

  1. 750m Swim, run to T1 plus transition
  2. 5k Run

Race Numbers must face forward on the run.

 

RACE PREPERATION

Papercourt Open Water Swim is open for general swimming on Tuesday nights from 6-8.30pm at Papercourt SC so if your nervous about swimming in open water for the first time or just want a chance to practice in the venue why not get in touch and come down.

Registration

Open 6pm-6.45pm

Registration will take place in the clubhouse facing onto the lake.

At registration you will need to provide photo ID confirming your identity and will then receive your race number which will allow you entry to Transition.

Transition

Competitors are able to setup in transition between 6.00-7pm.
Please ensure all bags are tucked out the way of other competitors.

If this is your first aquathlon just ask us for help on the day and we’ll be happy to show you how to setup in transition

Indoor Changing
Indoor changing is available within the club house with separate male and female changing plus showers available. There is no secure storage for bags etc so anything left out is done so at the competitors own risk.

Race Briefing
There will be a race briefing lakeside at 6.50pm for all athletes prior to entering the lake for acclimatisation and warm up. Please attend this race briefing as any last minute changes, as well as any questions will be answered here.

Littering
Please don’t leave ay litter out on course at our lovely lake, if you take it out with you bring it back.

Refreshments
Refreshments will be available in the bar/clubhouse following the event.
