MIDWEEK SUPER SERIES: RACE FORMATS

RACE 1 : THE HUNTED
750m Swim – 21km Bike – 5km Run
This standard sprint distance race has a twist;
Following a mass start the swim and bike are completed as an individual time trial, the run section is then completed as a pursuit or handicap style event.
Following completion of T2 (bike to run) athletes will enter 1 of 5 holding pens between transition and the run course and their time behind the pens group leader recorded. The race clock will temporarily stop for up to 10 minutes after the group leader comes in.
Once either the time runs out or the pen is full the athletes will be released onto the run course in the reverse order of the time they came in with the race leader having to hunt down the field, and the slowest having to out run them. There will be multiple pens so that the field will effectively be grouped by ability for the final run leg.
